Welcome to the new site. I would like to thank martin over at emulation64.com for hosting pj64.net all these years. This site is now on it’s own server and has had a major overhaul. I am sure there be some teething issues, so if you find something that seems wrong/missing please discuss it here and we will do our best to fix it.
The site has been redesigned to allow us to blog about what is going on with the development of Project64 and to be able to keep our users better informed of what is going on. We also have an RSS feed so you can subscribe and always be up to date with what is happening with Pj64.
All the work done on Project64 since the last public release last year [actually nearly 2 years, 1st April 2005 was our last public release, v1.7 development began proper in autumn 2005 with the old pj64.net (Smiff)] this is currently available to members as a beta package. You can find out more here.

During the years of development for 1.6, Gent and by proxy others, had suggested supporting the capability of loading external content to spice up the emulation. It’s no secret I’m always short on time and patience for features -- the story finished with 1.6 not having this feature. As it turns out this was probably good as it gave me more time to fully understand things. External content sort of fell into two categories -- the textures themselves, as well as the actual geometry the game was rendering.
In this first part we’ll start by exploring how the texture dumping functionality works. Below you’ll see a screenshot for the ‘Advanced’ tab in the 1.7 graphics configuration dialog – notice the option that is checked for dumping textures. When this is checked as textures are loaded during play they will dumped, as 32-bit PNG files, as illustrated below for Super Mario 64.

In the next part of this retrospective I’ll talk about what exactly makes a bunch of textures a ‘pack’, texture compression, and how this all translates to users being able to select which pack they want to use for a particular game. Maybe a game screenshot or two -- who knows!

Remember I said I was going to give out an Adaptoid to one of the donators in February? This has not disappeared. The winner is InexorableTash. I sent out an email to this person, but fear it might have got caught up in the spam filter. If you are the winner please could you get in contact with me (member forum, email, emutalk PM etc.) with your mailing address and I will get an Adaptoid shipped to you.
I am going to give away another free adaptoid, to someone who donates in March. I am going to change how I handle who wins this time I will send out an email and announce it on the site on the 1st of April so that should go smoothly this time. Many thanks to anyone who has donated.
Why would you want an Adaptoid?
The Adaptoid is the best device to change a real n64 controller into a PC joystick. This will let you play the N64 games on your PC with the complete feel of the original system. The only place that is selling these little gems is the Ztnet store who we are now an affiliate with.
We are preparing to launch a new site with a new logo (to bring us into the 21st Century? ;) It will still be the same PJ64 team here though :)

I had to redo the cheat section because of cheats.pj64.net being wiped and that being the only source for the site i had, so it was re-done again for 1.6 Version .
I am also thinking of making a start on a 1.7 members only version maybe?
I would like to know members thoughts on if they would want it as old format (pics and text) or an interactive tutorial?
Please Add Comment to let me know your opinions.
