It is good to see the n64 scene still active. If you want to try emulation on Linux then give Mupen64Plus a try. Mupen64 is an Open Source n64 emulator that does not just run on Linux, but all the common OS these days (Windows, Mac OSX, FreeBSD, and Linux). Well it is not Mupen64 directly, this was developed by hacktarux with the last release being Mupen64 0.5. A new group of developers have decided to make a fork of the original Mupen and called it Mupen64Plus. This fork is project aimed primarily at Linux users with a handful of enhancements. They have release a window version today. Check it out and see what you think.

If you interested in contributing to this project they are more then open to it, so if you a code or just want to test feel free to offer your service to them.

Is the lack of updates, just because the donation page is down? No!

I have been distracted by another non emulator project, it was meant to take a couple of months to do, but me I kept wanting to improve it so it has taken longer then I originally expected. Now I am in the process of changing jobs. I am going to be doing a short term contact job. It might be a little while before I get back in to developing pj64. I have a have a list of things I want to do with project64. I hope I will be able to give pj64 some good attention in 2-3 months time, put it might be another 6 months.

I have been distracted by work and other projects before. This is one of the main reasons we are doing the beta program the way we are. This way we can release parts and not a complete version when we work on them. I hope when this contract is done I can spend a decent amount of time on this project getting it to run a lot better. I have been on this project on/off again for nearly 10 years. I want to get it to a point where I can say it is done someday.

Apparently the Nintendo Wii uses bluetooth for its wireless devices. A few clever users found a way to use this with Project64 through third-party drivers and software hacks. There is a video up on youtube about this, here's the video below.

The most important thing you'll need to get this working is a bluetooth dongle, you can find these on eBay rather cheap, and obviously a Nintendo Wiimote. I haven't tried this myself, if anyone has we'd be curiuos to here from others!

I got a comment today on the site saying we should do a N64 emulator for the PSP. We are not interested in doing it, but I have to say strmnnrmn has been doing a fabulous job trying to get this working nice. He has just released version 10 of his emulator which is great, you can find out more here

April fools day is always a fun time of year, today I just wanted to write up a quick blog about the two year anniversary of PJ's last release, 1.6; We don't have any plans this year to fool you fortunately with any new releases but I wanted to take the time just for everyone to look back at on some of PJ's history and aknowledge how much fun we've had since then. Also if you see any rediculous stuff on the internet, add a comment to this entry we'd love to hear from you. Here's to future releases, cheers!
